Stockholm Local Transport

Stockholm local transport is considered one of the costliest local transport in the world. Of course, it's also considered as one of the most disciplined and punctual transport in the world. It offers you to travel in multi-mode(Metro, Commuter, Tram,  Bus and Ferry) with the same SL card. Most of the stations in Stockholm have disability friendly facilities.

SL is also available in English here: https://sl.se/en/

Register your SL Card here https://sl.se/sv/mitt-sl/inloggning/ using Swedish personal number so that it will be replaced at free of cost, if you loose it. It happened once with my daughter's SL card and she got a new card within 10 days and it was amazing service.

Children Travel Free Of Cost: Yes, that's true, Children aged below 7 years can travel free of cost with accompanied ticket holder any time any day. However, children aged below 12 years of age can travel free during weekends(From Friday 12 noon onward) and holidays. Bus journey is free for 1 adult, who has a child in his/her pram or stroller.

Discounted Tickets: There is a specific discount for students (School or college or university). For Adult students, Student Identity card is mandatory during the entire journey.

You can also buy leisure/weekend ticket in combination with above so that it can be used any time including on holiday or weekend.

SL Mobile App: It's always useful to have SL app installed on mobile so that you can use it wherever as it shows the next  bus/train from the nearest bus/train stop based on your location. You can also use it to check different options to travel via only train/bus/tram or combination.

24-Hour help-line : Yes, it's true. I was surprised to know initially that it was 24-hour service. You can call 08 600 10 00 around the clock any day any time for help. They offer it in English as well.
If you are in threat or see a threat like seen someone vandals the bus/train or you see people fighting and situation goes out of control, you can call 020 120 25 25.
You can also call them and report, if you lost or forgotten any item while travelling in public transport.

Delay CompensationYou can get compensated for the delays of public transport. Of course, there are certain terms and condition to be met to be eligible for compensation.

Huge Penalty : You always need to have a valid ticket for your journey and buy the ticket ahead of your journey. Otherwise you need to pay a fine amount of 1500 SEK plus your journey cost.

You can find Stockholm public transport map here.
Almost, all of the trains and T-bana stations and bus stops also have these maps.
